Starting from a joke on Facebook, more than 1 million people registered to participate in the ‘Invasion of Area 51 military zone’ event in Nevada (USA), causing the US Air Force to warn of danger.
In an interview with the Washington Post about the noisy event on Facebook, a spokesperson for the US Air Force emphasized that they are “ready to protect America and its assets” against any intrusion.
This is the most serious comment from the US military after more than 1 million people showed interest in the invasion of Area 51 base (Nevada state) to hunt… aliens.
Facebook user Jackson Barnes described on the event page: “Hello US government, this is just a joke and I have no intention of carrying out this plan. I think this idea is fun and might get a few likes on the Internet. I am not responsible if someone decides to infiltrate Area 51 for real.”
But the US government did not find this joke funny at all.
“Area 51 is a US Air Force training area. We recommend that no one enter the area where we train US armed forces” – the US Air Force spokesman continued to remind.
Some conspiracy theories believe that the US Government holds information about aliens and UFOs (unidentified flying objects) but hides it from the public.
They think the Area 51 base – which has been officially recognized since 2013 – is a place to hold aliens, strange technology and even crashed flying saucers. Of course, the US government denied this more than once.
Rumors about Area 51 began in 1989, when a man named Bob Lazar appeared on television claiming to be a physicist who worked at the base. He claimed to have participated in disassembling a flying saucer and read government documents about alien involvement on Earth.
Bob Lazar recently appeared on the radio again and Netflix made a documentary about him. Maybe this is the reason why the public is once again interested in conspiracy theories about Area 51.
Thomas Bullard, author of the book “UFO Myths and Mysteries,” commented: “After the erosion of trust between the government and the public with the Vietnam War and Watergate, Roswell and Area 51 went into hiding.” like a proverb describing the government’s double game”.
Roswell is an area in the state of New Mexico where a flying object crashed in 1947. The US military said it was a weather balloon but many people believed it was a flying saucer.
