Taylor Fritz is a happy camper after his opening match at Roland Garros. Taylor faced fellow American Michael Mmoh in the first round and scored a dominant 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 triumph in an hour and 32 minutes, reaching the second round in Paris for the fifth straight time.Fritz fired 14 aces and lost two points behind the first serve! Mmoh took 21 return points and created no break points. The pressure was on the younger American, and he cracked under it. Taylor grabbed 58% of the return points and turned them into seven breaks from 16 opportunities.

A top-10 player blasted 51 winners and 18 unforced errors, thundering from start to finish and wrapping up his most impressive Roland Garros display! Fritz had the upper hand in the shortest and mid-range exchanges to sail over the top and secure his 30th victory at Majors.

Taylor settled into a fine rhythm from the opening service game and lost six points behind the initial shot in the first set.

Mmoh defended four break points in the fourth game before hitting a double fault on the fifth to fall 3-1 behind.

Fritz grabbed the fifth game with a service winner and landed a perfect drop shot winner at 4-2 to remain in front. Michael served to stay in the set in the eighth game and sprayed a backhand error to face three set points.

Fritz placed another drop shot winner to wrap up the opener 6-2 in 33 minutes. Taylor lost three points in his games in the second set and did more than enough on the return to control the scoreboard. Mmoh hit a double fault in the second game to fall 2-0 behind, and Fritz opened a 3-0 gap with an ace a few minutes later.

Michael defended two break points in the fourth game, and Taylor cracked a forehand down the line winner in the next one for 4-1. Fritz grabbed a break in the sixth game with a forehand winner and wrapped up the set with a service winner at 5-1 for a massive advantage after 6-2 minutes!

The better-ranked American grabbed a break at love at the start of the third set and held at love with a service winner for 2-0. Mmoh squandered a couple of game points at 1-3 and got broken to push Fritz closer to the finish line.

Taylor grabbed the sixth game with an ace and secured another break at 5-1 to seal the deal in style and make a winning start.
