Serena Williams Tries Gourmet Dog Food in Rome and Ends Up “Really Sick”
Serena Williams was captivated by a gourmet dog food menu at her hotel in Rome, Italy, and was curious enough to give it a taste herself. In a series of Snapchat videos, the 42-year-old revealed that she felt “really sick” after sampling her dog’s specially prepared meal.
Defending her unusual choice to try the doggy room service dish, Serena explained that it had “looked good.” Unfortunately, her adventurous culinary decision did not go as planned, leading to a rather spectacular backfire.
‘They have this menu for my dog, because Chip left his food – can you imagine?’ she told fans on the social networking site, giving them a glimpse of the menu which offered pasta and rice dishes at €15 to €18 a plate.
‘On the doggy menu it has soup, and all this other good stuff, look at that. So today I’m like, “I might want to taste this food,”‘ Serena explained. ‘So I ordered him the salmon and rice, because I thought, “I eat salmon.”
Knowing what her admirers were going to say, the tennis pro showed the dish on camera, pointing out that it looked relatively inoffensive.
‘Before you judge me, look at it,’ she said. ‘That’s the salmon and rice – it’s kind of mixed together, right? I thought, “What the heck, I’m going to try a piece. It looks good.” So I ate a spoonful. Don’t judge me! I ate a spoonful!’
But Serena said that it wasn’t long before she had an upset stomach.
‘Let’s fast forward to two hours … I just ran to the toilet like I thought I was gonna pass out!’ she shared.
Reflecting on her mistake, Serena admitted that as soon as she had tasted the dog food she had realised it wasn’t suitable for people.
‘It did taste weird’: The 34-year-old said that she only had ‘a spoonful’ of the food, but noted that it was ‘a little bit like a house cleaner’
‘I mean, it did taste weird, I force-swallowed it. It tasted a little bit like a house cleaner kind of thing. I don’t know what they put in this dog food, but Chip liked it and it looked good.’
Serena added: ‘But I don’t think it’s consumable for humans. They should’ve wrote that! So now I feel really sick. It was just a spoonful.’
Shortly afterwards, the sports star posted another video, where she was sweating and appeared to be even more ill.
More for me: Serena said that Chip had enjoyed the food, but noted it probably wasn’t ‘consumable for humans’
