Barcelona have always been a hotbed for young talents across Spain. The current team is already home to talented stars such as Pedri, Gavi, Alejandro Balde and Ansu Fati, among others.
But there are also players in the youth academy who have been making waves. Angel Alarcon has already featured in a few matches for the senior side, whereas the club are poised to activate the two-year unilateral extension for the young Estanis Pedrola.
Although Barça have faced roadblocks in keeping hold of Ilias Akhomach and Victor Barbera, the club are keen on retaining the services of other talented stars from the subsidiary squad.
One such player is Aleix Garrido, with a recent report from Albert Roge (h/t Jijantes) suggesting that the club are poised to secure the continuity of the young midfielder.
A native of Ripoli, Garrido currently plies his trade with Barça’s U-19 division. But he recently trained with the senior team ahead of the Elche game on Saturday. He even made his professional debut against Los Franjiverdes and is regarded highly by the coaching staff due to his performances in the youth competitions.
Garrido’s contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season. But according to Roge, the club are on track to achieving an extension. The player, for his part, is determined to succeed at Barcelona and do not want to leave the club anytime soon.
This could be another huge boost for the Catalans as they brace themselves for a tough summer where signing players could be a tricky issue. Therefore, the services of young midfielders like Pablo Torre and Aleix Garrido could come in handy for coach Xavi.
