Astonishing BMW I8 has shaken the global auto industry

The sports car model has a futuristic design, which has become the driving trend of the rich with more than 50 cars returning home.

When launched in 2014, the BMW i8 impressed the international media with its futuristic design, far different from the sports cars of the time. By early November 2016, more than 10,000 i8s had been delivered to customers, making the i8 the world’s top-selling sports car.

In the years 2015-2016, i8 became a fever name in Vietnam because of its strange appearance, butterfly doors, many technologies and not “noisy”. That attracted many Vietnamese giants and the trend began to bloom.

The BMW i8 has a characteristic color of Crystal Pearl Metallic white, but has been changed by the owner through the decal method without affecting the paint. With this decal, the car becomes brilliant in natural light. Not only that, this decal layer can also change color under different viewing angles.

The bodywork is made of carbon with a LifeDrive structure, emphasizing lightweight materials, reducing the vehicle’s weight. The chassis with the powertrain is made of aluminum called Module Drive. In addition, the cabin compartment is made from CFRP plastic and carbon fiber, called Module Life.

The rear of the car has a design of two air vents close to the car, increasing aerodynamics. Comes with an internal combustion engine placed behind, while the electric motor is designed to be placed at the front of the car.

The original wheels have been replaced by Rotiform’s CBU wheels, making the car unique and outstanding. i8 has a sporty interior with a driver-oriented structure, with a 2+2 design, in which the two rear seats are symbolic, suitable for children or for storing things like bags and backpacks. The four seats of the i8 are covered with Spheric leather in light Carpo Ivory White, with blue stitching representing the hybrid. In the middle is an 8.8-inch central screen that displays all infotainment information.

3-spoke steering wheel with integrated hands-free buttons and gearshift paddles. A 10.25-inch digital screen behind the steering wheel displays the vehicle’s parameters and operating modes, accompanied by a feature that displays information on the steering wheel (HUD- Head-up Display). In addition, the car is equipped with a Bluetooth, AUX, USB connection system, wireless charging, and a 16-speaker 600 W Harman/Kardon sound system.

The car has 5 driving modes eDrive, Intelligent Hybrid, EcoPro, Comfort and Sport, which are adjusted through the Driving Experience Control mode switch and the eDrive button. Comes with driver assistance features including cruise control, brake distance adjustment, electric power steering, front / rear parking assist, 360 camera, rain wipers and automatic headlights.

The BMW i8 is powered by a hybrid powertrain, which combines a 1.5-liter twin-turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, for a total capacity of 362 hp and 570 Nm of torque. The car accelerates from 0-100 km / h in 4.4 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 250 km / h. BMW announced the i8’s fuel consumption is 2.5 liters / 100 km.

The price of BMW i8 at the new time when returning to Vietnam when paying all taxes is about 7-8 billion VND, however, the current old car models are sold for only half the price, about 3.5-4 billion VND. .
