After a terrifying Miami injury, Bianca Andreescu is expected to play back in only one month.

Bianca Andreescu set to play again just a month after scary Miami injury

Bianca Andreescu is competing at the Madrid Open as the Canadian is set to return to action just a month after suffering a scary injury at theMiami Open. In late March, Andreescu suffered a horrifying injury as the Canadian crushed on the court in Miami and screamed that it was the worst pain she had ever felt.

Andreescu had to be assisted into a wheelchair as tennis fans feared Andreescu had suffered a serious injury that would keep her out for a long time. Later, the scans revealed that Andreescu tore two ligaments in her ankle.

Earlier this month, Andreescu hit the gym before returning to the practice court. Now, Andreescu is set to return to action in Madrid. In Madrid, Andreescu is the 23rd-seeded player and has a first-round bye. After a first-round bye, Andreescu plays against the winner of the match between Varvara Gracheva and Xiyu Wang.

After winning the 2019 US Open, Andreescu started dealing with injuries and it greatly impacted her results and performance in the last few years. When Andreescu suffered a scary injury in Miami, many were heartbroken for the Canadian because she was just starting to play well again.

Ekaterina Alexandrova – who was Andreescu’s opponent in the Miami round-of-16 – was clearly in distress after witnessing the Canadian’s scary injury. “I’m just really sorry that it happened to [Andreescu]. Seeing her on the court in so much pain, it’s just painful to watch.

You cannot help, you can do nothing, which is terrible. I think she’s going to be fine soon, and I’m wishing for her speedy recovery. The first set was super tough and great, and it probably could be a pretty good match for both of us, but unfortunately [Andreescu’s injury] happened,” Alexandrova said after the match. It remains to be seen how well Andrescu can do in her first tournament back.
