T1 Nissan GT-R Sets New Drag Racing Record on Short Track

This Nissan GT-R has 3300 hp, runs 90 lbs of boost, can reach 200 mph in a few seconds and doesn’t care much for world records.

Drag race videos are even more entertaining when you can witness records getting shattered – like in the latest video from That Racing Channel’s YouTube channel.

You know you’re in a dangerous territory when the average sports car in the parking lot can reach 220 mph on a quarter mile of asphalt: but this is no quarter mile, it’s shorter than before.

As we learn in the video which documents the happenings at TX2K23 (Texas 2K) the track is now some 250 feet shorter than before owing to the high speeds of the fastest cars and safety, so the times might look slower.

Introducing The “Night Terror,” A Nissan GT-R With 3,400 HP Built For Drag Racing

In a twist of fate however, one performance car doesn’t care for distances and breaks the record for the longer track with less asphalt in which to do it.

Billy’s 2013 Nissan GT-R Is A Record-Breaking Nissan GT-R R35

This black Nissan GT-R drag car is similar to Midnight Fury recently seen over on Vehicle Virgins – a twin-turbocharged monster in an ominous black body.

That Racing Channel goes behind the scenes to talk with a member of the team about the car, revealing that it’s a 4.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6, with around 3200 hp and running at up to nearly 90 lbs of boost.

To put that in perspective, Cleetus broke his Chevy El Camino ‘Mullet’ running much less boost, but it all depends on the engine setup and various other factors. Billy’s GT-R here is the number one qualifier, capable of an 8:20 time at 220 mph.

Last time it missed the elite grade and had to skip the competition, but now it’s cooking with gas and ready to take on the best of the Elite 8.

The Fastest Viper Drag Racer Is The Kratos Dodge Viper

Also known as the fastest Gen-5 Dodge Viper in the world, the 3300-hp ACR Viper is quick – the video interviews the driver about the car after it makes an 8:48 time at 214 mph.

It previously ran a 6:90 time, but today it has some other issues launching at the green light with its rival and suffered some paint on its tire from the pre-race burnout. There’s no doubting it’s cool style and quick pass potential, however.

Other highlights from the video include a lot of quick passes and the dramatic crash of a red Lamborghini, leaving the supercar badly damaged and perhaps beyond repair.

At the end of the video, the dramatic conclusion is the record-breaking pass by the GT-R, which runs a 6:64 time at 237 mph, smashing the normal record on an even shorter track; resulting in high-fives and group hugs for the fastest Nissan GT-R drag car
